America Supporting Americans and Doc's NYC Lacrosse
HHC 504 Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 1st Brigade Combat Team in the 82nd Airborne
This season, Doc’s NYC
Lacrosse has joined with America Supporting Americans (www.asa-usa.org)
to sponsor the infantrymen of the HHC 504 Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 1st
Brigade Combat Team in the 82nd Airborne. Linda Patterson, the
founder of ASA, has put us in touch with Captain Kathleen Moffatt who is the
head of the whole unit, which is made up of 170 paratroopers. We will
be sending care packages including books, magazines, snacks, Doc’s apparel ,
and other tastes of home to the unit once they deploy for Iraq this summer.
We will wear the emblem of their unit on our helmets this season in honor of
them. Their motto is “Strike Hold”.
America Supporting
Americans (ASA) is an organization that puts people in contact with soldiers
overseas. The ASA has been bringing together people on the home front and
soldiers overseas since the Vietnam War.
Doc’s is one of 25 lacrosse programs across the country, including Ohio State, Bucknell, Brown, Cornell, Duke, Hobart, and the Air Force Academy, to name a few that are sponsoring units through ASA. Doc’s is the first program of any kind in NYC to sponsor a unit through ASA.
